Ripple Targets AI Economy With New Agentic Payments Toolkit on XRP Ledger

As artificial intelligence (AI) gathers steam, Ripple has unfurled an agentic payment toolkit for developers to build autonomous payment systems on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Hours after the announcement, the stablecoin, providing a solution for agents requiring dollar-denominated payments. Ripple said:

AI agents are no longer a future state. They’re already paying for compute, settling invoices, navigating policy constraints, and completing transactions without a human in the loop.”

Across the ecosystem, service providers are racing to introduce agentic functionalities to their operations. At the tail end of May, Robinhood unveiled agentic stock trading functionalities while MetaMask rolled out non-custodial wallets for AI agents.

Ripple says XRPL is designed for AI agents 

Amid the frenetic push for agentic functionalities in Web3, Ripple is betting on the XRP Ledger to become an industry leader. The company disclosed that the XRP Ledger offers a range of capabilities, with the network’s deterministic finality at the top of the pyramid.

Furthermore, Ripple is betting that XRPL’s predictable transaction costs will attract developers exploring agentic payments. Meanwhile, a built-in decentralized exchange and native multi-currency payments are tipped to weigh in favor of the XRP Ledger.

“The XRPL has run continuously since 2012, with no transaction rollbacks,” said Ripple in a statement. “For institutions deploying agents with real funds, that’s a meaningful reliability guarantee.”

Alongside the announcement, Ripple confirmed its participation in Mastercard’s Agent Pay for Machines initiative, joining 30 other industry service providers including Coinbase, Stripe and OKX.

Following the announcement, XRP price recorded an uptick, but the broader crypto market bearishness sees it trading at a near -2% decline over the last day. The 7-day chart presents a jarring outlook for XRP, with the native token recording a 24% monthly drawdown and investors selling their holdings at a loss.
