The Sam Altman-backed World project, formerly known as Worldcoin, is expanding beyond digital identity with the launch of the World Money financial app. The app, wjocj features a self-custodial design and is centered around stablecoins stablecoins and other digital assets, has been rolled out across more than 150 countries.
World Money launches in 150+ countries
The World Money packages digital asset trading, earning programs, and virtual accounts into one platform and features integrations with platforms such as Stripe, Kalshi and Morpho.
Users can access “Mini Apps” from these platforms, bringing different financial services into World Money. Particularly, through its partnership with Stripe, US-based users can fund their accounts via Apple Pay and use the money to purchase stablecoins. The official announcement read,
“What ties all of this together is the foundation, or the real human network. Money moves differently when accounts belong to people. Whether you’re sending funds across the street or across continents, World ID infuses trust into transactions. As AI makes fake accounts cheaper and more convincing, a network of humans becomes the thing money rails can’t fake.”
Notably, World Money allows users to hold balances in eight supported currencies. They can also send digital assets to other users internationally and earn rewards on eligible assets. World’s World ID verification is also built into the app, allowing verified users to receive boosted rewards on certain Earn programs.
World is expanding World App’s financial features
Interestingly, World has been including more financial features in its World App since its launch in 2023. Initially, the app brought together World ID, a crypto wallet, stablecoin movements, and token trading. This gave users both identity and basic financial tools in one place.
Later, in October 2024, the company further expanded these features with the launch of World App 3.0. As highlighted by the company, it is described as the “super app for humans.” With this update, the platform launched third-party Mini Apps and a Vault feature allowing users to earn rewards on certain assets.
This move was followed by another major milestone in November 2025, when World tested virtual bank accounts for US users. The next month, the company expanded the feature to other countries as well. These accounts permit users to receive paychecks and bank deposits, with the funds converted into USDC.
Now, the latest development helps the company to separate its identity and financial services into two apps. While World ID App helps users with identity verification and credentials, World Money handles wallets, payments, and other financial features.
Worldcoin price jumps 17%
The launch of World Money has been a significant positive catalyst for Worldcoin. Despite the broader economic pressure driven by the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan’s interest rate hikes, the Worldcoin price is showing a notable bullish trend.
The WLD coin is now trading at $0.4401, with an impressive surge of 17% in a day. The token has also seen notable upticks of 12% and 36% over the past week and month, respectively. The 24-hour trading volume has also jumped by about 55% to reach $363 million, highlighting rising market activity.
