Key highlights:
Institutional Zcash miner Fortitude is making a major investment to expand its ZEC mining operations. The company has agreed to purchase 9,000 Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro ASIC miners for $31.5 million. These machines are expected to boost the company’s mining capacity, potentially strengthening its position in the Zcash mining ecosystem.
Fortitude has executed a definitive agreement with @BITMAINtech for 9,000 Antminer Z15 Pro units, which we anticipate will represent approximately 7.56 GSol/s of incremental Equihash hashrate.
A significant step in our commitment to Zcash, and in our potential path to the public…

It is worth noting that the expansion underscores the growing confidence in the future of the privacy-focused cryptocurrency. As the Zcash network continues to roll out infrastructure upgrades and other technological advancements, institutional miners like Fortitude prepare to be a leader in the space. However, the move failed to push the Zcash price higher, with the token still hovering in the green zone.
Fortitude expands Zcash mining operations with $31.5M
Fortitude shared an official statement revealing its latest move to boost its Zcash mining operations. Reportedly, the firm has signed a deal worth around $31.5 million with Bitmain to buy 9,000 Antminer Z15 Pro ASIC miners. While these machines are the most advanced ones to mine Zcash, the move is set to increase the company’s Equihash mining capacity. This could further strengthen its position as a leading institutional ZEC miner.
Commenting on this development that decides the future of Zcash as well as the mining company, Fortitude CEO Andrea Childs stated:
“We believe Zcash plays a distinct and important role in the digital asset landscape. This order reflects our conviction in the network’s long-term value and positions us to meaningfully grow our Equihash capacity. Our leadership team has been active in the Zcash ecosystem since 2019, mining, investing, building, and providing infrastructure, and Fortitude was founded to carry that work forward as a committed, long-term infrastructure provider.”
ASIC miners to boost Fortitude’s mining capacity
Notably, the new miners will be delivered in two phases. In October 2026, Bitmain has scheduled the shipment of the first 3,000 units. The remaining 6,000 units will be delivered in November 2026. The amount agreed by the mining company per unit is $3,499. The company stated that this amount is 13%-27% lower than the current market rate for any such deliveries.
After the deployment, the ASIC miners are expected to add about 7.56 GSol/s of additional Equihash hashrate to Fortitude’s operations. This will increase the platform’s mining output and reinforce its long-term commitment to Zcash.
Zcash ecosystem continues to evolve with network upgrades
Interestingly, Fortitude’s latest ZEC mining expansion comes amid the Zcash ecosystem’s remarkable developments. The platform has been undergoing significant technological improvements. Earlier this year, Zcash unveiled a roadmap to make the network fully resistant to post-quantum threats.
Another major development was the Ironwood upgrade. As CoinCodex reported last month, the ZEC team had unveiled plans to launch the Ironwood upgrade following a vulnerability disclosure. Recently, the team revealed that the Ironwood upgrade has gone live.
ZEC price slips despite Fortitude’s investment
Despite this major development within the Zcash mining ecosystem, the ZEC price continues to show a negative trend. The token is currently trading at $460.23, down about 3% over the past day. Over the past seven days, ZEC has fallen by a notable 9%. However, in the last month, the altcoin surged by nearly 16%.
This negative trend indicates that the community has been largely unmoved by the mining company’s move. While the investment highlights strong institutional confidence in Zcash’s long-term potential, investors are looking for broader market conditions.
