US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce is leaving the agency after nine years at the forefront of advancing cryptocurrency rules. Peirce’s exit comes amid heavy crypto rulemaking by the US SEC after the Senate rejected the CLARITY Act.
Hester Peirce exits SEC position after nine years
Known as ‘Crypto Mom’ within the digital asset industry, Peirce departs after leading the SEC’s Crypto Task Force and advocating for clearer rules for the sector. Peirce disclosed that she will transition to a full-time academic role, joining Regent University School of Law in Virginia.
