Bitcoin Price Falls to $77K as ETFs See Outflows While ETH and SOL ETFs Gain

Key highlights:

  • Bitcoin ETFs saw $120.24M in outflows on Sept. 9, while ETH ETFs gained $34.75M and SOL ETFs $11.73M as BTC neared $77K
  • Bitcoin ETFs hold $99.33B in net assets, but ~90% of the $21.9B in 30-day netflows hit in just the Aug. 17–21 window, and fresh daily inflows are key to sustaining momentum
  • Key resistance at $83K–$86K (1.07M BTC accumulated there, ETF break-even near $86K after 228 sessions below it); sell pressure eased to 7bps/day from 16bps at the August peak

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $120.24 million in net outflows on September 9, while spot Ether and Solana ETFs attracted a combined $46.48 million in inflows.

The divergence comes as all three assets face renewed short-term selling pressure.

ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) led the withdrawals on September 9 with about $77.98 million, followed by Grayscale’s GBTC at $27.22 million and BlackRock’s IBIT at $19.53 million.

Bitwise’s BITB recorded roughly $4.49 million in inflows, but the gains were not enough to offset the broader withdrawals.

Despite the recent weakness, Bitcoin ETFs remain a major source of institutional capital. The funds held about $99.33 billion in combined net assets as of September 9, representing roughly 6.31% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization.

September has so far generated $603.27 million in Bitcoin ETF inflows, compared with $3.52 billion in August. The month began strongly, with funds attracting $730.87 million on September 3 and another $174.60 million on September 4.

Demand has been stronger across some other crypto ETFs. U.S. spot Ether ETFs recorded $34.75 million in net inflows on September 9, reversing the previous day’s $24.29 million outflow.

BlackRock’s ETHA led the inflows, while Fidelity’s FETH also recorded gains.

September’s cumulative Ether ETF inflows reached $141.19 million.

Solana ETFs also returned to positive territory, recording $11.73 million in net inflows on September 9.

Bitwise’s BSOL accounted for $11.18 million of the total, pushing cumulative Solana ETF inflows to about $1.36 billion.

The contrasting flows suggest that while institutional demand for crypto ETFs remains intact, investor appetite is becoming more selective as Bitcoin faces renewed selling pressure.

Bitcoin’s next test may come from a wall of old demand

Bitcoin’s recovery is approaching a key test as improving ETF demand meets a major resistance zone between $83,000 and $86,000.

CryptoQuant data shows 30-day spot Bitcoin ETF netflows have reached $21.9 billion, with Bitcoin trading around $77,200. The ETF cohort’s realized price is estimated at roughly $72,000 to $73,000.

However, most of that demand arrived in a short window.

About $19.6 billion, or nearly 90% of the current 30-day netflow, was recorded between August 17 and August 21 as Bitcoin climbed from the low $60,000s toward $80,000.

As those flows roll out of the 30-day calculation, the headline figure could fall even without significant new selling, making fresh daily ETF flows important for gauging whether demand is still strengthening.

The $83,000-$86,000 range could provide another hurdle. Glassnode estimates that long-term holders accumulated about 1.07 million BTC in this zone, creating a significant cost-basis cluster.

The spot ETF complex also has a break-even level near $86,000 and has remained below it for 228 consecutive sessions.

Other cost-basis levels sit below the zone, including the True Market Mean at $76,600 and corporate treasury break-even near $80,500.

Still, selling pressure has eased, with Glassnode’s seven-day sell-side risk ratio being around 7 basis points per day, down from 16 basis points during the August peak.

Bitcoin’s next move may therefore depend on whether fresh ETF inflows can continue pushing prices toward the $83,000-$86,000 area without triggering another wave of selling.
