Bitcoin ETFs Near $1 Billion in Just Seven Sessions. Here’s What’s Driving the Inflows

Key highlights:

  • Bitcoin ETFs have attracted $818 million in inflows in seven consecutive trading sessions.
  • BlackRock’s IBIT is spearheading the inflows, pulling in nearly $200 million in the last week.
  • Rising BTC prices and capital rotation from US equities are powering the ETF inflows.

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have undergone a stellar week, recording almost $1 billion worth of inflows in seven sessions. The Bitcoin ETFs are attracting institutional investors again after enduring a torrid June underscored by record-setting outflows of over $4.5 billion.

BlackRock’s IBIT led the recovery, attracting over $193 million in the last week after bringing in nearly $300 million in the week before. Meanwhile, Fidelity’s FBTC has contributed to the haul while Grayscale’s GBTC continues to record steep outflows.

The inflows come amid Bitcoin’s broader recovery, with the leading cryptocurrency trading above $65,000 after a slip below $60,000. In the last seven days, BTC has gained nearly 3% to match the inflows into spot ETFs.

Why are Bitcoin ETF inflows recovering?

Several reasons account for the surge in inflows recorded by spot Bitcoin ETFs. Analysts opine that institutions are viewing the price consolidation at $60K as a “bottoming signal”, opting to “capitalize on the discount.”

Furthermore, elevated volatility in semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) stocks has fueled a capital rotation in Bitcoin ETFs. Previously, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warned against investment in stocks, citing global economic instability.

Meanwhile, rebounding optimism around the CLARITY Act has triggered a return of institutional capital to Bitcoin ETFs. US President Donald Trump agreed to key ethical requirements in a version of the CLARITY Act, clearing the way for an imminent passage of the bill.

Last week, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas compared Bitcoin ETFs to gold, predicting a choppy pattern of inflows and drawdowns.

“Bitcoin ETFs may be following the same script,” said Balchunas. “Spectacular gains, painful drawdowns and recoveries that may test investors’ patience.”
