Currently, there is nearly 30% chances for the token launch by December 31, 2026, according to the Polymarket prediction market. The figure marks a marginal hike from the previous day’s odds at 28%.

Cobalt upgrade in September

As announced by Base, Beryl is part of the ecosystem’s broader upgrade roadmap. In September, the blockchain intends to unveil its next major upgrade, called Cobalt.

The Cobalt upgrade comes with new features. It will introduce native account abstraction, which will provide an easier way for smart accounts to use features like gas sponsorship and transaction batching. Additionally, it will launch more improvements to the B20 token standard.

Binance to support Base’s Beryl upgrade

Soon after Base announced its Beryl upgrade, crypto exchange Binance declared its support for the move. As a result, the exchange will temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals on the Base network at 17:00 UTC on June 25. Binance noted in a blog post,

“Starting at approximately 2026-06-25 17:00 (UTC), Binance will suspend the deposits and withdrawals of token(s) on the Base network to support its network upgrade and hard fork to ensure the best user experience. The network upgrade and hard fork will take place at the block height of 1,782,410,400, or at approximately 2026-06-25 18:00 (UTC).”

While the upgrade will take place at around 18:00 UTC, Binance is expected to handle all technical aspects, as confirmed by the platform. The exchange also stated that the upgrade will not affect the token trading on Base, which will continue as normal.
