Ethereum wallet provider Rainbow is preparing to launch its long-anticipated RNBW token in Q4 2025, the company announced on Monday. The move follows nearly two years of speculation surrounding its Rainbow Points program and positions the wallet in direct competition with MetaMask, which also plans to debut a native token soon.

That reason is called $RNBW. Coming Q4 2025. pic.twitter.com/37EObfuwnS— Rainbow (@rainbowdotme) September 22, 2025
RNBW token brings purpose to Rainbow Points
Initially introduced in December 2023, Rainbow Points rewarded users based on on-chain activity and holdings, with additional incentives for those migrating from competing Ethereum wallets like MetaMask. The program was widely seen as a strategic “vampire attack” aimed at attracting users from rival platforms.
With the upcoming RNBW token, Rainbow is giving long-time users a concrete reason for their points accumulation. While exact tokenomics have not yet been disclosed, Rainbow previously offered 4% of the total RNBW supply in a bid to acquire the token-launching protocol Clanker. Around 20% of the token’s circulating supply is expected to be available at launch.
App overhaul and new features accompany launch
Rainbow’s token debut will coincide with a significant app upgrade focused on performance and usability. The revamped wallet will feature real-time portfolio pricing, instant balance updates after transactions, and integrated candlestick charts, all aimed at eliminating the need for third-party tracking tools.
Rainbow also plans to expand its in-app browser support for decentralized applications across all Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains. Additional features on the roadmap include perpetual futures trading through a partnership with Hyperliquid and a new daily game dubbed “King of the Hill,” further enhancing user engagement.
MetaMask and Coinbase also eye token launches
The timing of the RNBW announcement is notable, coming just days after MetaMask confirmed plans for its own native token, MASK. According to Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin, the token could arrive “sooner than you would expect.” MetaMask also recently introduced its mUSD stablecoin, aimed at boosting activity across Ethereum and its layer-2 solution, Linea.
Coinbase is reportedly considering a token for its Base network, potentially to be integrated into its revamped Base App, adding to the growing list of wallet providers entering the tokenization race.
As Rainbow prepares to reward its users and compete in an increasingly tokenized wallet ecosystem, the launch of RNBW marks a key milestone in the evolution of Ethereum-based user platforms.
