Bitcoin’s price has nearly doubled since early October, spearheading the current crypto bull run and lifting other cryptocurrencies like XRP and Solana.
However, the market performance has been anything but linear. Some cryptocurrencies have more than doubled in price within a single month, only for the hype to die off and retracement to occur over the coming weeks. This can make it difficult for investors to make the best out of short-term market trends and pinpoint the best cryptos to buy for the short term. In this article, we will examine 3 coins that we believe have the serious potential to outperform the broader market this month.
3 Coins with short-term potential in April 2025:
- Bitcoin – A decentralized, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency that enables trustless transactions through blockchain technology and a proof-of-work consensus mechanism. It remains the most widely adopted digital asset, often referred to as digital gold
- XRP – A fast and efficient digital asset tailored for cross-border payments, operating on the XRP Ledger with a unique consensus algorithm. It enables low-cost, near-instant transactions without relying on mining
- Solana – A high-performance blockchain built for speed and scalability, using a hybrid Proof-of-History and Proof-of-Stake consensus. It supports fast, low-fee transactions and a growing ecosystem of DeFi and NFT applications
Exploring the coins with serious short-term potential
In the next sections, we will present our arguments for why the following three projects have strong potential for bullish short-term performance.
1. Bitcoin
Bitcoin is the first and most valuable cryptocurrency, operating as a decentralized peer-to-peer digital currency. Launched in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, it introduced blockchain technology and remains the most secure and widely adopted crypto asset. Bitcoin enables global transactions without intermediaries, allowing users to self-custody their BTC and transact 24/7.
Bitcoin has dropped by 6% in the last week, driving negative sentiment that has also been reflected in the markets for altcoins, as 26 out of the top 100 cryptocurrencies have dropped by over 10% in the same time period. Still, according to on-chain analytics platform Glassworks, institutional inversors have accumulated over 129,000 BTC since March 11.

That being said, Bitcoin whales holding over 10,000 are the only ones that are currently demonstrating an accumulation trend, with smaller holders being mostly sellers of Bitcoin. Additionally, Strategy, the current largest corporate Bitcoin holder, has announced a new BTC purchase of 22,048 BTC, investing roughly $1.92 billion. This purchase brings the company’s holdings to a total of 528,185 BTC, which is valued at around $43 billion.
Strategy has acquired 22,048 BTC for ~$1.92 billion at ~$86,969 per bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 11.0% YTD 2025. As of 3/30/2025, we hodl 528,185 $BTC acquired for ~$35.63 billion at ~$67,458 per bitcoin. $MSTR $STRK $STRFhttps://t.co/qbeAVthyQw

2. XRP
XRP is a digital asset designed for fast and low-cost cross-border payments, operating on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a decentralized, open-source blockchain. Its consensus mechanism, based on a network of trusted validators rather than mining, allows for rapid finality and energy efficiency. XRP serves as a bridge currency for global remittances and is used by financial institutions to facilitate real-time settlement and liquidity management.
Recently, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced that the SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commision) would be dropping its case against Ripple. The legal battle between the two entities has been a source of major uncertainty, so its resolution greatly improves XRP’s position from a long-term perspective.
This is it – the moment we’ve been waiting for. The SEC will drop its appeal – a resounding victory for Ripple, for crypto, every way you look at it.

Despite this, the market has been bearish on XRP from a short-term perspective, as the coin has dropped by 15% in the last week. Still, Ripple is continuing to build out new partnerships in the international payments sector. The company announced that it is teaming up with Chipper Cash, a payments platform operating across Africa, to facilitate cross-border transactions into the region through Ripple Payments.
Africa’s payments landscape is evolving and we are excited to be at the forefront of this journey.

3. Solana
Solana remains a standout in the crypto space despite broader market weakness, with its ecosystem continuing to show strong activity even as SOL’s price faces downward pressure and meme coin sentiment sours.
In a major development, Fidelity has become the latest asset manager to file for a spot Solana ETF, joining the likes of Franklin Templeton, Grayscale, VanEck, Bitwise, 21Shares, and Canary Capital.

Notably, Fidelity is the largest of these firms by assets under management (AUM), and Solana is the only altcoin it’s currently seeking to launch an ETF for. This move adds weight to the growing institutional interest in Solana.
Fidelity’s track record in the ETF space is strong—its spot Bitcoin ETF, FBTC, is the second-largest in the U.S. and holds nearly $17 billion in assets.
The firm’s entry into the race for a Solana ETF is an encouraging signal for the asset’s long-term outlook. On prediction platform Polymarket, traders currently assign an 82% probability that a Solana ETF will be approved in the U.S. sometime in 2025.
The bottom line
The coins included in this article possess unique characteristics that could help them rally in the coming weeks. Still, you should keep in mind that investing in these coins is still inherently risky and that you shouldn’t approach any kind of investing with a conviction that the investment’s value is guaranteed to increase.
To offset some of the risks, you could consider investing in cryptocurrencies that are best suitable for the long term.
