The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has updated its crypto FAQs to clarify how regulated firms can use tokenized investments and blockchain technology. CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig described the update as part of the agency’s ongoing effort to provide regulatory clarity for the crypto industry.

The CFTC emphasized that the FAQs represent the views of its divisions and do not create new binding rules or amend existing regulations.
Since the legislative delay surrounding the CLARITY Act, the CFTC has hinted at an incoming flurry of rulemaking for the crypto sector by regulators. Days after the delay, the US SEC introduced an Innovation Exemption to allow 24-hour onchain trading of tokenized US stocks.
