Binance Lists Spot HYPE After More Than a Year of Perps-Only Trading

By Aliyu Pokima

Key highlights:

  • Binance has listed HYPE on spot markets with a Seed Tag, urging traders to invest with caution.
  • HYPE is now available against USDT, USDC and TRY on Binance, expanding access to the Hyperliquid token.
  • HYPE price slid nearly 5% on the daily charts, reflecting the broader dour sentiment in the crypto market.

Binance has finally added Hyperliquid’s HYPE token to its global spot market, more than a year after launching HYPE perpetual futures. The listing gives Binance users direct access to HYPE after the exchange previously limited its exposure to the token through leveraged derivatives.

Binance finally adds HYPE to spot

According to an official statement, Binance has opened HYPE spot trading through HYPE/USDT, HYPE/USDC and HYPE/TRY pairs. The exchange announced the listing on September 24, stating that withdrawals would open on September 25 at 11:00 UTC.

The exchange has also placed its Seed Tag on HYPE, meaning Binance considers the asset subject to higher volatility and risk. Binance said eligible users will face periodic risk assessments when trading Seed Tag assets.

While users can now buy and hold HYPE on the exchange, Binance will pose quizzes to its customers every 90 days to ensure that they are aware of the risks associated with trading tokens with the Seed Tags.

The move comes more than 15 months after Binance launched HYPEUSDT perpetual futures on May 30, 2025. That contract offered leverage of up to 75x, although Binance explicitly noted at the time that a futures listing did not guarantee a future spot listing.

The gap between the two listings is notable because Hyperliquid has expanded considerably since Binance first added HYPE derivatives.

Hyperliquid has become a significant venue for perpetual futures trading, with its share of global perpetual volume reaching 6.63% in May 2026. Onchain data indicates that its share relative to Binance reached 14.4%, with the growth pushing HYPE into the upper tier of the crypto market by valuation.

Broader crypto market retreat leaves HYPE muted

While traders expected the Binance announcement to send HYPE on a strong rally again, the broader crypto market muted the run. On the one-hour chart, HYPE is down 2.11% while the one-day chart indicates a decline of nearly 5% despite its listing on Binance.

A glance at the broader cryptocurrency market reveals the same muted price performance among leading assets. Bitcoin (BTC) is down nearly 3% over the last day while Ethereum (ETH) has fallen by 3.30% in the same time frame.

XRP and ZEC are the biggest losers among the top ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization in the last 24 hours, shedding 8.55% and 7.54% respectively.

Early in the week, cryptocurrency prices surged with Bitcoin crossing $85,000, leading altcoins to record impressive gains. The gains are still evident with HYPE’s seven-day chart indicating a 13% increase while other altcoins are basking in the glow of double-digit gains early in the week.
