Key highlights:
XRP is trying to recover after a rough stretch following the Senate’s decision not to move the CLARITY Act forward. The XRP price had climbed to around $1.60 before dropping back to the $1.28–$1.30 region as traders reacted to the news and took profits.
Even with that drop, not everyone thinks the bigger picture has changed. Analyst Celal Kucuker called it a correction within a broader uptrend. He’s focused on the $1.50–$1.60 area, where XRP’s 50-week and 100-week moving averages are bunched together.
Meanwhile, on-chain data is telling a different story. Santiment found that 85 new wallets holding at least 1 million XRP showed up just two days before XRP exploded 67% between August 17 and August 21. That’s the kind of thing that makes you wonder if something similar is brewing again.
CLARITY Act news put pressure on the XRP price
The latest drop in the XRP price came after Ripple responded to the Senate’s failure to advance the CLARITY Act. The company called it a missed opportunity for consumers, crypto businesses, and U.S. innovation.
Today, the Clarity Act failed to advance in the Senate, a tremendous missed opportunity for American consumers, the digital asset industry, and U.S. competitiveness.

They also made it clear that Ripple and XRP are still on solid legal ground. The market didn’t care. The XRP price pulled back from $1.60 and slid back into the middle of its recent range.
We had a look at the chart shared by Celelal Kucuker, and one level keeps jumping out: $1.60. That area is loaded with technical weight. The 50-week and 100-week moving averages sit there, and it also lines up with a descending trendline that’s blocked big rallies for years.
XRP Update
Today’s CLARITY Act news triggered a negative butterfly effect, leading to a sharp sell-off in $XRP.
However, from a technical perspective, the structure doesn’t look bad. In fact, this could be considered a healthy correction.

As long as the XRP price stays below that zone, a lot of traders will stay cautious. A clean break above $1.60 could put $2.00 in play, then $2.50 and $3.00. Beyond that, the next major hurdles are $3.50 and the previous peak near $3.90.
Whale wallets were buying before the breakout
One of the strongest bullish arguments for the XRP price comes from whale activity. Santiment reported that 85 new wallets holding at least 1 million XRP showed up in the two days before the XRP price rallied from around $0.98 to $1.60. The total number of millionaire wallets climbed from about 2,032 to roughly 2,117.
📈 Still getting over that sudden +67% $XRP price breakout? The ledger’s millionaire wallets moved first. The chart shows 85 new 1M+ XRP addresses appearing just 2 days before XRP’s 67% breakout from Aug. 17 to Aug. 21.

The bigger trend is worth watching too. Back when XRP hit its August low near $0.98, millionaire wallets had dropped to around 1,990. Since then, that number has climbed back above 2,100.
Large holders don’t always get every move right. But they often start accumulating before the bigger price moves become obvious to everyone else. That’s why many traders are keeping a close eye on whether this wallet growth continues.
Santiment also pointed to Ripple’s ongoing work around RLUSD and tokenization infrastructure on the XRP Ledger. Those developments continue to strengthen the network’s use cases beyond simple trading activity.
The XRP price is stuck in the middle
From a technical view, XRP is wedged between support below and resistance above. On the daily chart, the XRP price is trading around $1.29 and holding above its 100-day simple moving average at $1.1744.
Daily XRP chart analysis
The first resistance is $1.4349, which lines up with the 0.886 Fibonacci retracement. Above that, traders are watching $1.50 and then the much bigger $1.60 barrier. We also had a look at the 4-hour chart. It looks a bit weaker there. XRP is below its 100-period moving average at $1.3846, and the 4-hour RSI has dropped to 34.82, close to oversold.
4-Hour XRP chart analysis
That combo leaves room for a bounce if buyers show up. If XRP can reclaim $1.3846, the next levels to watch are $1.4349, $1.50, and then $1.60. If selling continues, support comes in around $1.2747. Below that, traders will be watching $1.1744, followed by $1.00 and then $0.8936.
XRP network activity has slowed down
This is where things get less interesting. Whale wallets have been growing, but activity across the XRP network has gone the other way.
Active addresses dropped from roughly 130,000 during an earlier spike down to around 42,000. Transfer activity fell too, sliding from about 760,000 transactions to roughly 425,000. And the XRP price followed the same path, falling from around $1.40 to about $1.28.
So whales are buying, but the network itself is quiet. That’s a mixed signal. A recovery in network activity would help strengthen the bullish case. Many traders will be watching to see whether active addresses can climb back above 60,000 and whether transfer counts begin moving higher again.
Where could the XRP price go next?
The XRP price is being pulled in two directions. Whales have been accumulating. The number of millionaire wallets climbed to around 2,117, and 85 new wallets appeared shortly before XRP’s 67% breakout.
For buyers, the first objective is reclaiming $1.3846 and then pushing through $1.4349. After that, all eyes will be on the $1.50-$1.60 region. A break above that zone could put $2.00 into view.
For sellers, a move below $1.2747 would increase the risk of a drop toward $1.1744 and potentially the $1.00 level. For now, the XRP price remains caught between encouraging whale accumulation and softer network activity. Which side wins that battle may determine XRP’s next major move.
CoinCodex’s 1-month XRP price prediction places the price at $1.89, implying that analysts expect the XRP price to recover from current levels and push back toward the key resistance zones that have capped recent rallies.
