Key highlights:
- Robinhood reported record second-quarter revenue as trading activity surged across equities, options, and cryptocurrencies
- Crypto revenue more than doubled year over year, helping drive another quarter of record profitability
- Despite the strong results, Robinhood shares slipped as investors appeared to take profits following the stock’s massive rally this year
Robinhood shares fall after blockbuster earnings
Robinhood Markets (HOOD) traded lower despite reporting its strongest-ever quarterly results, as investors looked past the headline earnings beat and locked in gains after the stock’s remarkable run.
On Wednesday, HOOD stock closed at $89.84 after a 3.15% drop before recovering modestly in premarket activity, even as the company delivered record revenue and earnings that exceeded Wall Street expectations.
The muted market reaction suggests much of the optimism surrounding Robinhood’s rapid expansion into crypto, prediction markets and tokenized assets had already been priced into the stock.
Revenue climbs to an all-time high
Robinhood generated $1.3 billion in total net revenue during the second quarter, marking a 32% increase year over year and the highest quarterly revenue in the company’s history.
Net interest revenue surged to $383 million, while diluted earnings per share reached $0.62, highlighting continued improvements in profitability.
Adjusted EBITDA rose to approximately $741 million, reflecting expanding operating margins as customer activity remained elevated across multiple trading products.
The results reinforce Robinhood’s transition from a commission-free brokerage into a diversified financial platform with growing revenue streams beyond traditional stock trading.
Crypto remains a major growth engine
Digital assets once again played a central role in Robinhood’s performance.
Crypto transaction revenue surged 44% year over year to $776 million, supported by higher retail participation and improving market conditions.
Options trading also remained a standout performer, with transaction-based revenue increasing 38% Year-over-Year to $342 million, while equities revenue climbed 95% Year-over-Year to $129 million.
The strong performance demonstrates that Robinhood is generating more balanced revenue across its ecosystem rather than relying solely on cryptocurrency trading.
Customer growth continues
Robinhood continued expanding its customer base and platform engagement during the quarter.
Funded customer accounts increased to a record 28.4 million, while the company also reported $22 billion in net deposits during the quarter, underscoring continued customer inflows despite broader market volatility.
Robinhood Gold subscriptions continued to expand as more users adopted premium banking, investing, and credit offerings, providing the company with a growing source of recurring subscription revenue.
Investors focus on valuation after massive rally
Despite the record results, Robinhood’s share price declined as investors appeared to take profits following one of the strongest rallies among U.S. financial technology stocks this year.
The stock had surged sharply over recent months, fueled by enthusiasm surrounding cryptocurrency trading, tokenized equities, prediction markets and expanding retail investor activity.
With expectations already elevated, another strong earnings report was not enough to trigger a fresh buying wave.
Analysts noted that while the quarter confirmed Robinhood’s operational momentum, investors are increasingly evaluating whether future growth can justify the company’s premium valuation after its rapid appreciation.
